ancestral roots

Throughout history and across many cultures, tallow (suet), lard, and emu oil were staples used for cooking, soap making, and skin creams. Sadly, with the modern popularity of industrialized seed oils, these nourishing animal fats have been unfairly stigmatized and often discarded when animals are butchered. However, we strongly advocate for an animal-based lifestyle and nose-to-tail practices, honoring and utilizing every part of nature's miracles. That is why we carefully render suet over low heat to create a nourishing and luxurious skincare products, just like our ancestors did.

herbal alchemy

Whereas the majority of cosmetic industry uses factory-produced colorants and fragrances, we enjoy creating our own with botanical infusions and ethically-sourced natural clays. We believe in drawing inspiration from the beauty of that is provided to us from Mother Earth herself, and have developed beautiful and effective techniques to incorporate these organic plant matters, scents, and dyes into our creations.
Though we adore essential oils for their wonderfully therapeutic properties, we are aware of the sustainability issues when it comes to producing essential oil. When we create our fragrances, we first double-infuse our tallow and oils with herbs, flowers, resins, and barks to not only enhance skincare potency, but to impart the plant's natural scents into the products- thus reducing our amount of essential oil use.

We want to spread our love for Mother Earth, which is why our values are deeply rooted in being eco-friendly.
From the moment we started this new endeavor, we made the decision that we were going to be a low-waste company and vowed to make the sometimes tough and expensive choices that that would necessitate. Although we have one product that is sold in post-consumer recycled BPA-free plastic jars (due to safety concerns - slippery glass jars and showers don't mix!), we have implemented our own recycling program: By returning the empty jars to us with a provided pre-paid shipping label, you can earn credits towards future purchases!
